About Me
Hi and welcome,
My name is Lynsey and I am a qualified, level 6, Integrative Pluralistic counsellor that has completed a BA (Hons) degree in Counselling and Therapeutic Studies. This means I work within a school of therapy that is designed to have counsellors and clients working collaboratively with each other to find the best way to address client's concerns, using ideas and techniques from different therapeutic theories, literature and the clients own life experiences. The different therapeutic modalities that I can offer include Person-Centred, Cognitive Behaviour Therapy, Solution Focused Behaviour Therapy, Transactional Analysis, Psychodynamics, Trauma, amongst many others.
I have lived experience of being a carer/parent to Children who have neurodivergence and severe disabilities which requires them to need care 24/7 for the rest of their life. I believe that even though people can be empathic of this situation, it takes lived experience to truly recognise the constant fight for your loved ones to have rights, care etc to truly understand.
My Experience
I have vast experience in working with children from ages 9+ and adults of all backgrounds. I have both working experience and personal experience of helping people who are living with a diagnosis and/or disability or watching a loved one go through this and the difficulties this brings.
I can help you with many mental health issues including
- Anxiety,
- Depression,
- Grief,
- PTSD,
- Childhood trauma,
- Abuse (including sexual),
- Domestic violence,
- Anger,
- Neurodiversity,
- Stress,
- Relationship worries,
- Carer concerns and responsibilities,
- Overcoming diagnosis, and many more.
- Feelings of sadness, being lost and uncertainties in life
I have vast experience with children and adults covering the above points and many more.
My Knowledge and General Information
I am a registered individual member of the BACP (British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy) which ensures I follow a set of ethical guidelines that keeps clients and myself safe. I am registered with the ICO (Information Commissioners Office) which gives assurance that your personal data is being gathered and stored securely. I also have a full enhanced DBS certificate (Disclosure and Barring Service) that ensures your safety with clients of all ages, this certificate can be viewed on request if needed to give extra peace of mind and assurance.
As part of my professional practice I complete regular CPD (Continual Professional Development) in line with BACP's recommendations. I also have regular supervision meetings with a registered supervisor which ensures I am completing my sessions ethically and have professional guidance within my field of work.
What is a Pluralistic Therapist?
One of the main principles of pluralistic therapy is that every person is different, so they will need different processes at different times throughout their therapeutic journey, and the best way to decide on what processes to use is to speak to our clients and ask what is or isn't working and change the process accordingly. I aim to work collaboratively with clients, and seek to always give autonomy by asking preferences throughout and when working on goals. I work with all clients in a non-judgemental, genuine, empathic and sensitive way to walk alongside you on your therapeutic journey. Every person has different values, beliefs and circumstantial differences that makes them the person they are, with this understanding I work holistically to understand the whole person I am working with.
